Average monthly nominal salary in the 1st quarter of 2011 in Armenia totaled AMD 108248, which is 0,5% lower compared to the beginning of the year.

“Average monthly nominal salary in the reporting period totaled about AMD 118500, the highest and the lowest salaries were recorded in Syunik province (AMD 134500) and Aragotsotn province (AMD 75200) respectively,” the National Statistical Service said in a report titled Food Security and Poverty in Armenia in January-March 2011.

Meanwhile, average unemployment level in Armenia in January-March was 6,6% . In Yerevan this index was 7,8%, the highest index was recorded in Lori (10,6%) and the lowest in Aragatsotn (2,1%).

As regards the number of economically active Armenian population, in the first quarter of 2011 the number reached 1117000, 93.4% among them were immediately engaged in economy, and 41,9% in farming.
