NATO ISN'T GOING TO DEAL WITH KARABAKH SETTTLEMENT PROBLEMS
12.01.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. "The OSCE and the Minsk group are dealing with the Karabakh conflict settlement, and involving NATO in this process would have counter-effect on it", said in Brussels NATO Secretary General Lord George Robertson replying to the question of Mediamax.
G. Robertson said the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe is able to deal with this problem independently, and NATO has no wish to "duplicate" the efforts of the OSCE.
NATO Secretary General expressed the hope that the parties of the Karabakh conflict "will get together as soon as possible and resolve the problem amicably". In his words, this would be in the interest not only of the Southern Caucasian region but the whole European continent as well.
George Robertson will start his visit to Yerevan on Monday, January 15. -0-
