Vanes Martirosyan beats Saul Roman to claim WBC Silver title

Armenian-born boxer Vanes Martirosyan defeated Saul Roman by seventh round TKO on the undercard of WBC middleweight title bout between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Sebastian Zbik.

With the victory, Martirosyan claimed the vacant WBC Silver light middleweight title and will now be eyeing a shot at WBC champion Saul Alvarez.

Martirosyan's last four bouts have taken place since 2010, and they include victories over Bladimir Hernandez, Kassim Ouma and Willie Lee.

The win over Roman is his best in a while, and it is definitely his most important considering it was a WBC semi-final title eliminator bout, according to Bleacher Report.
