Monument to Hosni Mubarak in Baku vicinity demolished

The monument of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has been dismantled in the Azerbaijani town of Khirdalan (in vicinity of Baku) last night.

"The monument was dismantled by the order of executive powers in Baku,” sources in Khirdalan, Azerbaijan's Absheron province center said.

Baku authorities, however, refuse to comment on the demolition of the monument and its further destiny.

Khirdalan was declared the twin town of Egyptian El-Kalubia. A street where the park with Mubarak's monument is located bears the same name.

Egyptian government, in turn, called one of the streets in El-Kalubia Absheron. After the unrest in Egypt, the square near Mubarak's monument in Khirdalan was guarded by the police, Interfax-Azerbaijan reported.
