Nalbandian drops out of AGEON Championship

Former Wimbledon finalist and Tennis Masters Cup champion, David Nalbandian lost to Spaniard Fernando Verdasco 5-7 and 1-6 in the AGEON Championship third round at The Queen’s Club in London.

Nalbandian who entered the tournament after obtaining a wildcard invitation, had had wins over Ilia Marchenko and Ilia Bozoljac in the previous rounds.

Even though the Argentine looks in better shape than he has for some time, his physique as sleek as his game, he couldn’t take a hold on Verdasco, Buenos Aires Herald reported.

Nalbandian saw the last two years of his career get hampered by a series of injuries that mostly kept him out of competition. It was in August last year that his persistent efforts paid off and got him a return to the winner's circle in Washington with a title.

Likewise, U.S. Open winner, Juan Martin del Potro will play the winner of the match between Adrian Marino and Gilles Simon.
