Fire breaks out at Tsisternakaberd Genocide Monument location

PanARMENIAN.Net - On June 21, at approx. 6:30 p.m. Yerevan time, a fire broke out in the eastern part of Tsitsernakaberd hill, at the site of the Monument to Armenian Genocide Victims. A fire engine arrived at the site; with a second brigade of firemen summoned later.

As Armenian Ministry of Emergency situations told PanARMENIAN.Net the fire was extinguished at 8:13 p.m.

According to Colonel Tatulyan, fire occurred in 5 different locations, with 6 hectares of grass burnt as a result. “Today, about 20 similar incidents occurred in Yerevan. I believe that was done on purpose, as in current season the grass couldn't become inflamed by itself,” Tatulyan said.
