Prosperous Armenia positive about authorities-opposition dialogue

PanARMENIAN.Net - No political dialogue has been formed or started in Armenia, according to Prosperous Armenia parliamentary group member Vardan Bostanjyan.

“The main question is about the content of the political dialogue. I myself have questions regarding it,” Bostanjyan told reporters on June 28.

“In his statement, President Serzh Sargsyan has specified questions to be included in the agenda of the dialogue between authorities and the Armenian National Congress (ANC),” the MP said, adding that these questions stand for first-priority problems the country faces, particularly, socio-economic ones.

As to Prosperous Armenia’s attitude about the dialogue, Bostanjyan said it’s positive. “Anyway, the dialogue is better than confrontation. And although the dialogue has not started yet and this process involves only oppositional ANC and Republican Party of Armenia, however other oppositional and coalitional parties may join it as well,” he said.

Earlier Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan came out with a statement regarding the dialogue with extraparliamentary opposition in which he stated that the Dialogue with the Armenian National Congress has been initiated by the authorities. “If instead of negotiations, which are unacceptable, the Armenian National Congress is genuinely ready to continue the dialogue on the outline of the country’s development, essential issues of the country’s foreign and internal policies and desires to do so through the specially designated individuals, the representatives of the Coalition parties can sit down at the discussions table with them. The Political Coalition is ready to conduct such discussions with all political forces which possess concrete proposals,” the statement said.
