Ali Granmayeh: Arab uprising similar to late 1980s events in USSR

PanARMENIAN.Net - Ali Granmayeh, Lecturer & Research Associate at University of London, thinks Iran’s reaction to the unrest in the Arab world to be unrealistic.

The expert compared the Arab uprising with the events taking place in the USSR in late 1980s, as result of which the soviet republics declared independence.

As to the situation in Iran, Dr. Granmayeh said that the popular movement for democracy and human rights protection continues despite the leadership’s pressure.
