Armenia offered to organize Performance Design Quadrennial in Caucasus Region

After its first appearance at Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space (PQ2011), Armenian delegation received an offer of organizing a similar event in Caucasus Region.

As a stage artist, Armenian group supervisor at the event Nelly Barsegyan noted, Armenia was represented in Countries and Regions section, with Wiping off the Dust of Memory theme.

At the event, Armenia featured performance design of 4 Armenian plays: Ardaghion, The Book of Flowers ( by State Pantomime Theatre) and A Chair, Aregnazan (by Yerevan State Music Comedy Theatre) in an attempt to illustrate different genres of Armenian art, stage history and promote development of modern Armenian theatre.

Lilit Stepanyan, a production designer at State Pantomime Theatre was representing Armenia at the event along with Ms. Barseghyan. As Ms. Stepanyan noted, Armenian performance design was met with wide acclaim; Armenia's exhibit hall was overfilled.

As the delegation supervisor noted, representatives of the Armenian Embassy in Czech Republic also visited the exhibit hall.

Held once every four years in Prague, Czech Republic, the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space is a the world’s largest performance design event – a presentation of contemporary work in a variety of performance design disciplines and genres including costume, stage, lighting, sound design, and theatre architecture for dance, opera, drama, site-specific, multi-media performances, and performance art.
