Chairman of the Union of Armenian Winemakers Avag Harutyunyan advises to drink white dry wine in the summer evenings, as wine is very useful.

According to him, men should drink 300 grams of wine every day, while women should consume 100 grams less.

As Harutyunyan said summing up results of the first half year of 2011, a batch production of wine has recorded a 20% growth as compared with same period in 2010. Production of brandy increased by 6%, while beer production underwent a 10% decline.

In this respect, Harutyunyan stressed that in post-crisis period consumption of vodka has decreased in Armenia. “In the first half year of 2011, the volume of consumed vodka in Armenia amounted to 3.1 mln. liters, as against 4.7 mln. liters in 2010,” he said.

As regards wine consumption, it remained unchanged, that is 1.4 mln. liters, whereas brandy consumption in the reporting period totaled 625 thous. liters against 610 thous. liters in 2010.
