Baku acknowledges of disinterest in implementation of Madrid principlesJuly 21, 2011 - 20:44 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - “Negotiation process on Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement will continue until any party renounces Madrid principles,” according to Azerbaijani political expert Arif Yunus. It is not ruled out that a break will be done in talks for a while, but afterwards the negotiations will re-start, however based on other principles, Yunus said. The President of Azerbaijan put forward 10 remarks to existing Madrid principles in Kazan which “could refer to the Russia’s role in the region, issue about peace keepers, Lachin corridor and referendum,” according to the expert. Azerbaijan is not interested in implementation of Madrid principles without consideration of remarks, otherwise loss of Nagorno Karabakh is threatened, Yunus believes, as reported by SalamNews. The summit between Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Kazan on June 24 completed without an agreement on basic principles of Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement because the Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev attempted to impose 10 new proposals, thus precluding the possibility of any agreement on the issue. There were certain expectations with respect to the meeting, taking into consideration the Deauville statement adopted by the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries. The leaders of the United States, France and Russia called on the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia to demonstrate political will and finalize the basic principles toward a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. “Further delay pf the process would only call into question the commitment of the sides to reach an agreement,” a joint statement by Presidents Barack Obama, Nicolas Sarkozy and Dmitry Medvedev said.
