10800 people visit Wings of Tatev aerial tramway in June

PanARMENIAN.Net - Wings of Tatev, longest aerial tramway in the world, located in Armenia’s Syunik province was visited by 10800 in June, local residents’ visits comprising 10% of the figure cited.

In a conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, the aerial tramway manager Tigran Ghazaryan noted the monthly growth of passenger inflow to comprise 20%, with expected increase of the number of passengers in August.

As he stated, although the aerial tramway is playing a significant role in promotion of Tatev brand, the tourists show major interest to Tatev monastery complex.

As Mr. Ghazaryan noted, in September, a reception room will be opened at Alidzor station along with a gift shop, to provide information on aerial tramway, Tatev monastery complex.

According to Mr. Ghazaryan, preparatory works for aerial tramway-adjacent hotel complex construction were completed, for construction itself to launch in 2012. However, he noted, the guests of Tatev will be able to find international standard accommodations at the boarding houses nearby.

On October 16, 2010, the Tatev Revival Project was launched in Tatev, Syunik province of Armenia, marked by the official inauguration of the world's longest reversible passenger aerial tramway.

On October 23, the village of Tatev in Armenia’s Syunik region hosted a ceremony of official Guinness certification for the Wings of Tatev, the world's longest reversible passenger aerial tramway.

The 5752-meter long aerial tramway was officially registered by the representative of the Guinness World Records, who arrived in Armenia for the ceremony.
