Vladimir Hakopyan: Armenian chess team takes Champion's title calmly

PanARMENIAN.Net - No4 chess player Gabriel Sargsyan considers that Armenian chess team members have a psychology of winner and no matter who the rival is.

“Many times we felt the taste of victory, but it becomes more and more difficult when the tournament was approaching its end. After the 5th round, when we defeated China, I was 90% sure that Armenian team will win the World Champion’s title,” Sargsyan acknowledged adding that he was not in a better shape during the championship and did his best for the team not to lose points because of him.

Vladimir Hakopyan noted that the team took the Champion's title calmly.

“We won World Olympiad two times and got used to victories,” said Hakopyan.

On July 26, Armenian team won Ningbo- hosted World Team Chess Championship, gaining 14 points in 9 rounds.

Before this Championship, Armenian chess team won bronze medal three times: in 1997 in Lucerne, Switzerland, in 2001 in Yerevan and in 2005 in Beer Sheva, Israel. The team also won World Olympiad in 2006 and 2008.
