Bryza believes OSCE MG reached certain results on Karabakh resolution

U.S. participates in the process of the conflict settlement at a top level, said the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza .

“U.S. President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are concerned about settlement of Karabakh conflict,” said the diplomat adding that the following step towards resolution of the conflict will be specified by OSCE Minsk group.

As regards possibility of Iran’s mediation in the conflict, the U.S. Ambassador noted that OSCE MG has already reached certain results in the conflict settlement.

“We suppose that OSCE MG functions normally and the Framework Agreement is already being worked over,” said the diplomat.

“Although, the document should still be developed, the settlement of the conflict must be accomplished by Minsk Group,” said Bryza, as reported by SalamNews.

Earlier Ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan Mahammad Bagir Bahrami said that Iran is ready to become mediator in Karabakh settlement any time.

Bahrami expressed his country’s stand over the conflict and noted that if Armenia and Azerbaijan agree Iran will become mediator in peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. “Iran which is a neighboring country both for Azerbaijan and for Armenia supports peaceful settlement of the conflict and, therefore, is committed to the pacific resolution and establishment of stability in the region,” the Ambassador said.

“West is not interested in resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. It is only interested in Azerbaijan’s energy capacities. Countries beyond the region give deceitful promises to Armenia and Azerbaijan,” said the Ambassador.

Whereas Iranian expert Bahram Amirahmadian believes Iran must not become involved in Karabakh settlement. According to the expert, conflict settlement implies winning and losing sides. “However, Iran has positive developing relations with both countries, which is why Tehran should avoid mediation activities leaving them to international structures,” he said.
