MISSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND ARRIVES IN ARMENIA TODAY
07.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will arrive today in Yerevan. As was reported to Mediamax in the press service of the government, the main purpose of the visit of the IMF mission is to discuss the program of struggle against poverty with the government of Armenia.
The Prime Minister of Armenia Andranik Margarian said at the consultative meeting of international donor-states and the government of Armenia on October 19 that Armenian government is going to finally approve the program of struggle against poverty, to be realized together with the IMF for the period of three years. The deputy minister of finance and economy of Armenia Gagik Arzumanian said in the interview to Mediamax that providing constant economic growth will be the main pledge of realization of this program.
In March 2000 the Minister of finance and economy of Armenia Levon Barkhudarian noted that Armenia is negotiating with the IMF for a three-year credit of 120-150 million dollars, which is similar in type to ESAF credit, but with more social orientation. --0--
