COOPERATION BETWEEN ARMENIA'S AND KARABAKH'S PARLIAMENTS NEEDS TO BE MORE ACTIVE
04.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The goal of the visit of delegation of the Armenian parliament's commission for foreign relations to Karabakh was aimed at making more active the working contacts between the parliaments of Armenia and Karabakh, that is foreseen by the cooperation agreements signed in 1996 and 1998 by legislative bodies of the both states.
Hovaness Hovanessian, the chairman of the Armenian parliament's commission for foreign relations, stated in his interview to Mediamax that during the visit the Armenian parliamentarians met with Karabakh's president, prime minister, vice-speaker, chairmen of the parliamentary factions and commissions. A joint session of the commissions for foreign relations of the both parliaments took place during the visit as well.
According to Hovanessian, the priority was given to the discussions on the Karabakh problem, as the representatives of the Armenian parliament wanted to get from the "first hands" the position of the political authorities of Karabakh regarding this issue.
The deputy informed that mutual obligations and agreements are reached during the meeting and a program of joint efforts is worked out. "Cooperation between the both parliaments is mutually important and I hope that this cooperation will be continued in the future," Hovanessian said. -0--
