Facebook launches Android and iOS Messenger app

PanARMENIAN.Net - Facebook introduced a new mobile app called Facebook Messenger. The app simplifies messaging and gives users a faster way to message friends and small groups, according to Facebook Blog.

“We think messaging should be easier than that. You should be able to write a message, click "Send" and know that you will reach the person right away,” wrote Lucy Zhang, Beluga Co-founder and Facebook Engineer in a Blog post.

Messenger is a separate app. Messages are delivered through notifications and texts, so friends are more likely to get them right away.

Users can use Messenger to reach all of their friends whether they're on Facebook or in phone contacts. All users have to do is type the person's name. The Messenger app is an extension of Facebook messages, so all conversations are in one place, including texts, chats, emails and messages. With Messenger, it is also possible to start quickly a group conversation and message everyone at once. The user also can easily attach photos and add location.

Messenger will be available for both iPhone and Android starting August 10.
