"THINGS ARE NOT MOVING FORWARD AROUND KARABAKH CONFLICT SETTLEMENT, BUT WITHOUT RUSSIA'S COOPERATION THEY COULD BE WORSE"
26.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. "Things are not moving forward around the Karabakh conflict, but without Russia's cooperation, they could be worse. At least there has been no shooting for six years," Ambassador Anatoly L. Adamishin, former minister in Charge of Russia's relations with CIS countries stated delivering a speech at the seminar at Harvard's Kennedy School's Caspian Studies Program, titled "US-Russian Relations in the Caspian Region".
According to Adamishin "as one of the co-chair countries in the Minsk talks, Russia is trying to assist both sides. It seemed, a year or so ago, that a solution seemed near, but then came the tragic events in the Armenian parliament. Our new president Vladimir Putin may have a new perspective and may have a part in finding a settlement," added Adamishin. "There is always the chance that if there is a very long delay, both sides will be radicalized. We want to hurry, and Russia supports finding a solution," Adamishin said. --0--
