"YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE A DISTINGIUSHED PLACE IN TURKISH PEOPLE'S HEART," SEZER WRITES TO CLINTON
23.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer sent a thank-you letter to U.S. President Bill Clinton, saying, "you will always have a distinguished place in Turkish people's heart as a genuine and leading friend of Turkey as a result of your valuable contribution to withdrawal of the resolution which could damage good relations between our countries."
The Turkish Anatolian news agency informs that this letter was sent afte the resolution on Armenian Genocide had been withdrawn from the U.S. House of Representatives full House's agenda.
In his letter, President Sezer said, "I want to thank His Excellency and the U.S. administration on behalf of the Turkish nation for your determined and friendly attitude which has provided withdrawal of resolution aiming at blackening our nation's history."
President Sezer added, "Turkey attributes great importance to its relations with friendly and allied U.S. I am quite sure His Excellency shares my hopes that such unfortunate campaigns which could prevent further improvement of our relations, would not be repeated in the future." --0--
