18.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Before the terrorist act in the Armenian parliament on October 27, 1999, the relations of Robert Kocharian and Prime Minister Vazgen Sarkisian were extremely tense. Ashot Manucharian, the Political Secretary of the Socialists Union of Armenia stated this today at a press conference in Yerevan.
The relations between the two leaders began to worsen after about a year Robert Kocharian was elected the president, Manucharian said. At the same time, he said, they never demonstrated their disagreements in public.
Returning to the theme of Vazgen Sarkisian's and Speaker Karen Demirchian's disagreement with the plan of the territorial swap between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Manucharian stated that if a special parliamentary commission is formed, he is ready to invite people form the closest circles of the late premier and speaker, who will confirm his words.
