Sargsyan stands biggest chance in presidential race, politician says

PanARMENIAN.Net - In a struggle for a seat, waged by former Armenian presidents, Levon Ter-Petrossian and Robert Kocharian, and current leader Serzh Sargsyan, the latter stands the highest chance of being re-elected, according to a former presidential hopeful.

As Arman Melikyan told a news conference in Yerevan, to Ter-Petrossian and Kocharian, as political rivals, Sargsyan’s candidature is much preferable to that of either one.

Melikyan, however, was highly pessimistic as to the future of Armenia under Sargsyan’s leadership. On the other hand, the politician said, escalation of problems in domestic policy is inevitable in case of either Ter-Petrossian or Kocharian’s accession to power.

“The country needs a new generation of politicians, capable of unifying the society in order to progress,” Melikyan stressed.
