ARMENIAN DEPUTIES BRING REASONS FOR THEIR NON-PARTICIPATION IN THE SESSION OF THE ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT

PanARMENIAN.Net - 28.09.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. On September 27 deputies of the parliamentary factions "Orinats Yerkir", "Dashnaktsutyun", National-Democratic Union, "Stability" group, the Republican party of Armenia and the "Constitutional Rights" Union signed and spread the statement motivating the reasons of their non-participation in the work of the regular parliamentary session, was reported to MEDIAMAX in the press-service of the National Assembly of the country.

The statement particularly notes: "On September 26, 2000, at the regular session of the National Assembly of the country, the parliament accepted the resignation of Speaker Armen Khachatrian, but the latter is trying to keep his post of the speaker illegally".

We condemn Armen Khachatrian's attempt to seize the power, which besides being illegal also petrifies the regular work of the parliament of the country and destabilizes the political situation in Armenia.

We declare that we will not participate in the parliamentary sessions while the speaker, dismissed from his post, chairs the sessions. Armen Khachatrian will be the one responsible for the consequences of this situation", notes the statement.

We will remind you that yesterday's session of the Armenian parliament was not held, as the quorum was not secured. -0-
