Gennady took his best shot to win – Martirosyan's coach

Middleweight boxer Dmitry Pirog defended his WBO title with a technical knock-out in a fight against fellow Russian Gennady Martirosyan in Krasnodar.

Martirosyan’s team threw in the towel after the 10th round because of the injuries sustained; the boxer had a hematoma under his eye.

“I can say that we did all we could and wanted to. I have no reason to complain, he showed character, willpower and took his best shot for the victory. But, unfortunately, he did not make it,” Martirosyan's coach Vladimir Vidov said, according to The Moscow News.

At present, Martirosyan is undergoing an examination in a hospital to prove he's out of danger.
