Google reports $9.7 billion 3Q revenue

PanARMENIAN.Net - Google during its third-quarter financial estimates announced that its Google+ social site has attracted more than 40 million members.

The search giant during its third-quarter earnings call reported a profit of $2.7 billion on revenue of $9.7 billion in the quarter. That compares with $2.2 billion in profit on $7.3 billion in revenue a year ago, USA Today reports.

Shares of Google surged 6.5% to $595.50 in after-hours trading.

CEO Larry Page spoke to reporters and financial analysts, touting growth in company products. Google+ has quadrupled in growth since the company reported its numbers in the previous quarter. It has now more than 40 million members.

"People are flocking into Google+ at an incredible rate and we are just getting started," said Page.

For Google+, Page sees his nascent social network as just at its beginning stages. “We are baking identity and sharing in all of our products. Sharing on the Web will be like sharing in real life across all your stuff,” he said.

Already, 3.4 billion photos have been uploaded to Google+, according to TechCrunch.

Page noted that there are 190 million Android devices (up from 130 million in July). More importantly, mobile revenue is now at a $2.5 billion run rate.
