Former PM offers top ten anti-crisis measures for Armenia

Member of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc, former Prime Minister of Armenia Hrant Bagratyan has presented the top ten anti-crisis measures for the country.

The complete list, according to him, will be read out during the ANC rally on October 28.

“First, foreign aid inflows, which help artificially save the AMD exchange rate, should be sterilized,” Bagratyan told journalists in Yerevan. “Second, loan interest rate should be lowered, with loans provided to ordinary people, not oligarchs. Third, AMD exchange rate should not be raised and, fourth, the banking sector should pay taxes equal to those imposed on the other fields.”

Besides, according to Bagratyan’s fifth point, mines should be sold. The sixth and seventh points say that the government or Prime Minister should not enjoy tax privileges.

“Eighth, loan amortization must be banned. Ninth, monopoly should be controlled and, tenth, the public should be informed of national resources,” he concluded.
