TAX REVENUE FOR JULY TOPS THE TARGET BY 113,5 PER CENT IN THE ARMENIAN STATE BUDGET
02.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Today the Prime Minister of Armenia Andranik Margarian visited the State income ministry.
As was reported to MEDIAMAX in the press service of the government of the country, the incomes of the state budget for June-July 2000 indicate considerable achievements in tax sphere. Tax revenue only for July made up 15.319 million drams, which tops the target by 113,5 per cent. The revenue of July 1999 made 12.523 million drams.
Margarian reasoned the achieved results in tax sphere by applying the principle of "general equality before the law" by the government and the ministry.
The Minister for State Income of Armenia, Gagik Poghosian informed that a department for struggle against protectionism is formed in the ministry.
The premier assured that the president and the government of the country are decisive in the matter of providing proper work of tax and customs services and in the struggle against shade economy, and they will assist all the measures realized by the ministry in every possible way.
Premier Margarian especially singled out the work of the ministry at Bagratashen market, bordering with Georgia, which was realized exclusively by the means of the ministry without the state budget means.
The prime minister also noted that the increase of the revenue mustn't be realized at the expense of a rise of the tax rates, noting that inland resources are not exhausted yet, and the government still expects the results of the work that has been realized during the past months.
During the meeting Andranik Margarian informed that by the end of the year an additional turnover of several tens of million dollars is expected, which, in its turn, will give new sources of taxation.
The minister of finance and economy of Armenia, Levon Barkhudarian expressed gratitude to the staff of the state income ministry. He said that new strategy is being worked out at present in tax and customs spheres, which will be submitted to the government in the near future. -0-
