YEREVAN PAPER PUBLISHED A SENSATIONAL REPORT, IN WHICH THE LEADER OF THE TERRORISTS NAIRI HUNANIAN SAYS HE WAS COMPELLED TO GIVE EVIDENCE AGAINTS THE PRESIDENT OF ARMENIA
28.07.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Today Yerevan "Azg" paper published an extract from the shorthand record of the conversation of Nairi Hunanian - the leader of the terrorists who realized the shooting in the parliament of Armenia on October 27, 1999, and Alexan Harutyunian - the counselor of the president of Armenia, accused of instigation to the realization of the terrorist act.
Alexan Harutyunian was released from under custody in spring 2000, and the accusation was removed from him.
The lawyer of Harutyunian Ruben Sahakian, who presented the record to the paper, does not specify the very place where the conversation was secretly recorded. Most likely, the conversation had taken place in the investigation isolation ward. Here follows the extract from the record:
Alexan Harutyunian (A.A.) -Everything will be revealed soon, Nairi.
Nairi Hunanian (N.H.) -Everything will be revealed. Everything will be exposed, I'm not able to speak now. I don't feel quite myself, I'm sick.
A.A. -And that's why you're telling lies?
N.H. -What are you talking about? Everything will be revealed.
A.A. -Please, tell the truth, the rest is up to you. Only tell the truth please.
N.H. - Come on, everything will be Ok.
A.A. - Nothing will be Ok. You've slandered me. My family, my business - everything's failing. Unscrupulous you are! Did they coerce you?
N.H. - I don't feel like talking about it.
A.A. -Then tell me only this.
N.H. - Yes. I was being compelled to give evidence against Robert (MEDIAMAX -the president of Armenia Robert Kocharian). I was made to name him. I couldn't walk, I didn't understand anything. Didn't you see me? Don't you remember what I looked like...".
Another accused on the case of "October 27" - the vice director of the National Television of Armenia Harutyun Harutyunian, from whom the accusation was removed, had declared earlier that the Military Prosecutor's Office investigating the case, had a clear scenario - accuse the president of Armenia of organizing the terrorist act. -0-
