THE SISTER OF THE ARRESTED EX-MINISTER OF DEFENSE OF RNK SAMVEL BABAYAN SEEKS POLITICAL ASYLUM EITHER IN SOME EUROPEAN COUNTRIES OR THE USA
28.07.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Anush Babayan - the sister of the ex-minister of defense of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh Samvel Babayan, accused of organizing an attempt upon the life of the president of RNK Arkady Ghukasian on March 22, 2000, addressed an appeal to the government of the USA, Germany, France and Greece to grant her a political asylum.
Mrs. Babayan declared that "she can't bear any longer the persecution by the law-protecting bodies of RNK that are carrying on mass campaign against all the relatives of Samvel Babayan".
Anush Babayan also declared that the law- protecting bodies of RNK have demanded that she should move from her 4-room apartment till July 31. They argue this demand by the fact that the apartment was purchased illegally when Samvel Babayan was the defense minister and the commander of the Defense Army of RNK. Anush Babayan herself asserts that she has purchased the apartment 10 years ago on quite legal bases. -0-
