As was reported to MEDIAMAX in the press office of the Ministry of Defense of the USA, about this declared the Secretary of Defense of the USA William S. Cohen at the joint briefing with his Armenian colleague Serzh Sarkisian who is in the USA on a visit.
Cohen noted that within the framework of the agreement , signed on July 24, the United States will provide Armenia with $300,000 of equipment and training.
"It will help Armenia to improve its customs and border patrol services in order to control the spread of weapons of mass destruction, and nuclear, chemical and biological weapons as well", declared the Secretary of Defense of the USA.
William Cohen also noted that earlier this year the USA agreed to assist Armenia with demining, training and equipment to help clear landmines left by the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh with Azerbaijan. The Secretary of Defense of the USA said that no troop involvement is envisaged after the agreement.
