THE EX-CANDIDATE FOR THE POST OF THE SPEAKER OF THE PARLIAMENT OF RNK IS DEPRIVED OF THE DEPUTY MANDATE
17.07.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The ex-candidate for the post of the chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh, Maxim Mirzoyan, ("Dashnaktsutiun" faction) is deprived of the deputy mandate.
As the correspondent of MEDIAMAX reports from Stepanakert, by the decision of the constitutional instance of the Supreme Court of RNK in the 4th and 7th electoral districts of Stepanakert on the elections to the National Assembly of the Republic, which took place on June 18, a repeated voting by specified lists will be held.
Candidates for parliament Roles Aghajanian ("Democratic Artsakh" Union) and Hrant Melkumian (the Communist party of RNK) had made a complaint to the constitutional instance of the Supreme Court of RNK about a law violation. Considering both actions, the court invalidated the results of the elections in these districts, as a result of which Seyran Hayrapetian and Maxim Mirzoyan ("Dashnaktsutiun"), who had gained victory in the elections here, were deprived of their deputy mandates.
Roles Aghajanian and Hrant Melkumian argued their complaint by inaccuracies in the election lists, violation of the voting procedure and the law article of inadmissibility of propaganda on the election day.
The court judgement of depriving him of his deputy mandate Maxim Mirzoyan qualified as "a persecution on political motives". In his opinion, the arguments of Hrant Melkumian are quite unconvincing.
In total 4 cases on a dispute of elections results are submitted to the court for consideration . Two more similar processes are scheduled for July 19. The results of the voting in the 9th electoral district of Stepanakert are contested in legal form by another communist, the leader of the Karabakh Communist party Valery Atajian. -0-
