YEREVAN THERMOELECTRIC POWER PLANT REMAINS STATE PROPERTY
The Armenian Parliament has approved changes into the law "On program of privatization of the state property for 2001-2003," according to which the Yerevan Thermoelectric Power Plant (TPP) is withdrawn from the program. The decision is passed upon the proposal of the government of Armenia as this February it approved of the program of engineering re-equipment of the TPP and is holding negotiations with the Japanese government to attract a credit of $140 million. The program of re-equipment of the station provides for building of a new energy bloc operating on natural gas.
