Expert: Karabakh talks must be based on principle of joint Armenia-NK republic

PanARMENIAN.Net - Political analyst Armen Aghayan perceives Nagorno Karabakh talks wrong, latter based on independent NKR principle. He noted that the ruling elite at the beginning of 90s disregarded the 1989 declaration by Armenian and NKR Supreme Councils on Karabakh joining Armenia.

According to Aghayan the decision was conditioned by fears to lose war with Azerbaijan, and to be viewed as an aggressor.

For his part, head of Heritage oppositional Party Parliamentary Group Stepan Safaryan noted that the only solution to Karabakh conflict should be based on Nagorno Karabakh people's right to self-determination. Dwelling on the issue of Artsakh joining Armenia in future Safaryan noted that the question should be resolved by future generations.
