Syria suspends membership in Mediterranean Union

PanARMENIAN.Net - Syria suspended its membership in the Mediterranean Union, Syrian state-run news agency (SANA) said.

According to SANA, this decision came in objection to the "unjustified" European procedures against the Syrian people.

The Mediterranean Union, an initiative of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, was inaugurated in 2008 to bolster cooperation between Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
