Dunja Mijatovic says internet not to blame for riots worldwide

PanARMENIAN.Net - The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media disagrees with the fact that Internet plays a major role in organisation of riots worldwide.

As Dunja Mijatovic told a news conference, organized on the sidelines of OSCE Ministerial Council sitting, the freedom of media, including that of social networks is among the burning issues of today. “Governments view some of social media users as a threat, while attempting to hamper exchange of information in cyberspace,” she noted.

According to Ms. Mijatovic the role of Internet in organization of revolutions is greatly exaggerated. “Revolutions are arranged by the people and not the hardware, there was no Internet at the time The French Revolution broke out,” she said.
