Transport Minister praises Armenia’s ICT sector

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is one of the few countries where tangible achievements are observed in information and communications technology (ICT) sector, according to RA Minister of Transport and Communication.

“The fact that Armenia’s territory is almost utterly covered with 3G network is a major accomplishment,” Manuk Vardanyansaid.

Minister Vardanyan further attached importance to opening of Internet Access Center for the blind and visually impaired through UNESCO support.

On November 21, Yerevan’s Saryan 22 Haypost subsidiary hosted opening ceremony of Internet Access Center for the blind and visually impaired at the initiative of RA Ministry of Transport and Communication, Regional Department of the International Telecommunications Union of CIS countries (ITU) and UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies.

The computer center is equipped with 15 interactive whiteboards and 15 computers with a keyboard, monitor and video camera running on the Braille system. 5 of 15 computers are intended for the blind, the rest – for visually impaired.
