Baku hampers investigation of contact line incidents

Azerbaijan repeatedly avoids implementation of agreements on investigating incidents at contact line, according to Armenian Foreign Minister.

In this context Edward Nalbandian cited Azerbaijan’s threats to veto OSCE Minsk Group’s proposal to include expenses for investigation of contact line casualties in 2012 budget.

The Minister further voiced hope for OSCE MG to shape mechanisms for more effective achievement of the goals set, with no progress noted yet in the process of investigating incidents at the contact line between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces.

According to NKR defense army’s press service, with the start of 2012, heavy ceasefire violations continued at the contact line between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces, with Azerbaijan firing around 90 shots from various caliber weapons towards Armenian positions on December 31-January 1, and 1200 shots towards the front line.
