Unbeaten Vanes Martirosyan will take on 41 year-old Troy Lowry on the Nonito Donaire v Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. undercard early next month as he treads water in expectation of a shot at the WBC light-middleweight title, World Boxing News reported.
Martirosyan, 25, has won all 31 of his professional contests so far and currently holds a firm grip on the number one spot with the WBC. The Armenian-born American is pencilled in to face the winner of James Kirkland v Carlos Molina - which takes place in March, for a shot at Saul Alvarez in late summer.
Opponent Lowry, nicknamed ‘TNT’ has lost eleven of 39 bouts and surprised all in his last outing by knocking out 20-0 Travis Loveless in Indiana following a run of six straight defeats.
The Minnesota-native does possess the power for an upset as his 17 stoppages would suggest, but should be a relatively easy hurdle for Martirosyan to negotiate as he awaits his WBC title eliminator, the report says.
