Expert deems possible war with Iran disastrous for South Caucasus

PanARMENIAN.Net - Deputy director of Noravank Foundation believed anti-Iran military operations of the U.S. and the West to have grave consequences for South Caucasian states. According to Sevak Sarukhanyan, Iran currently secures the balance of powers in the region, the violation of which may bring about annihilation of the Armenian Diaspora. He further noted that danger of the war also poses a threat to implementation of a number of Iran-Armenia economic projects.

Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the RA NAS Ruben Safrastyan, in turn, pointed out closure of roads from Iran, large flows of Iranian refugees to Armenia and the danger of resumption of Nagorno Karabakh war by Azerbaijan as the main threats the possible war with Iran may pose to Armenia.
