Apple offers free live-stream of McCartney's Feb 9 concert on iTunes

PanARMENIAN.Net - Fans of former Beatle Paul McCartney are in for a special treat on iTunes on Thursday, Feb 9.

According to PC Magazine, Apple announced it is planning to offer a free live-stream of McCartney's upcoming performance from Capitol Studios in Hollywood, Calif. It will stream through the iTunes Store and over Apple TV on Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. PST.

Apple is going to stream the special event for free in celebration of McCartney's new album, Kisses on the Bottom, which was released Monday and is available on iTunes for $9.99. The album features 16 songs, including four original tracks. As of Wednesday morning, Kisses on the Bottom had been rated on iTunes nearly 300 times, and was receiving four-out-of-five stars, on average.

Details of the performance, including how long it will run, are not known.

This is not the first time Apple has live-streamed special events on iTunes. The Cupertino company has for the past several years live-streamed its iTunes festival in London, featuring artists such as Foo Fighters, Paul Simon, Adele, Linkin Park, Beady Eye, and more. This is the first time Apple will live-stream an event directly to its Apple TV, however.

Fans likely remember when Apple last November settled an old disagreement with The Beatles and finally added the iconic band to its iTubes library. Although the Fab Four broke up in 1970, their music quickly dominated iTunes sales.

"We're really excited to bring the Beatles' music to iTunes," McCartney said in a statement at the time. "It's nice to see the songs we originally released on vinyl receive as much love in the digital world as they did the first time around."
