Armenia’s Vladimir Akopian and Karen Grigoryan tied games vs. Rinat Jumabaev (Kazakhstan) and Bartosz Socko respectively in the 6 round of Aeroflot Open Chess Festival 2012, ongoing in Moscow.

Hrant Melkumyan only lost to Italian GM Fabiano Caruana. With 4 points Melkumyan currently comes 14th, with 3.5 points Grigoryan is 38th, while Akopian is placed 47th with 3 points.

The festival prize fund totals 125.000 euro. The three tournaments (A, B, C) will be held in 9 rounds in line with contenders’ ranking points. Rankings above 2550 are required for the tournament group A, which usually brings together extra class chess players.
