Government: 200 wolves to be killed in Armenia during hunt season

The Armenian government amended at February 16 session the previous decision according to which the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia got funding to cut the population of wolves in the republic.

The Minister of Nature Protection, Aram Harutyunyan said they succeeded in 2011 in killing 100 wolves while following the rules of hunting. “We need to get rid of wolves this year as well; with heavy snowfall, their number is increasingly growing in the settlements. We want to encourage hunters to kill the wolves; this will not damage their population,” he stressed.

In response to the question of Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan regarding the number of wolves to be killed this year, the Minister said they expect it to make 200.
