Armenia is consecutive in its policy to integrate into European structures. Armenian president Robert Kocharian stated in the course of a meeting with special representative of the European Union to the South Caucasus Heikki Talvitie. "We work for creating a state based on European standards," - the Armenian leader emphasized. The parties also discussed prospects of expansion of cooperation between the European Union and Armenia, exchanged views on the role of the South Caucasus in the EU policy. Issues of repeal of death penalty, improvement of the electoral system of the republic were also touched upon. It should be reminded that Finnish diplomat (former representative of Finland to the OSCE Minsk conference) Heikki Talvitie was appointed EU special representative to the South Caucasus this July.
