PanARMENIAN.Net - With triumph at the Grammys and the BRIT Awards still fresh, Adele has another reason to celebrate.

"Rolling in the Deep" singer Adele's sophomore album, "21" has just hit its biggest sales week ever, selling more than 730,000 copies in a single week. That number is particularly astounding, as it comes a year after the album's release, The Wrap reported.

Interest in the British singer, born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, has soared since her return to singing after prolonged throat problems, combined with her dominance at both the Grammy Awards earlier this month and the BRIT Awards. The songbird scooped up six Grammys this year, and took home Best British Album of the Year and British female artist trophies at the BRIT Awards.

Overall, "21" - which currently sits atop the Billboard Top 200 Album chart - has sold 7 million copies in the United States, and more than 18 million worldwide. On the digital front, the album has racked up more than 2 million downloads at the iTunes Store, making her the first artist to go double platinum on iTunes.

"21" has enjoyed 21 non-consecutive weeks at the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart - a record for a female artist.

Now in its 21st non-consecutive week at No. 1 on The Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, "21" is the longest running No. 1 by a woman in Billboard's nearly 56 year history.
