Sumgait pogroms commemorated in Ukraine

PanARMENIAN.Net - On February 28, a mourning rally in memory of the victims of Sumgait pogroms was held nearby the office of the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine.

Representatives from international organizations, Ukrainian politicians, human rights advocates, Cossacks and the Armenian Diaspora participated in the event.

It is noteworthy that Georgian and Iranian youth representatives also joined the Armenians.

Upon completion of the action, the rally participants’ address conveying in detail the history of the Armenian pogroms in Azerbaijani towns as well as Armenians’ stance on Nagorno Karabakh issue was handed to the OSCE representation.

Ukrainian cities with large Armenian communities will also host actions commemorating the 24th anniversary of pogroms in Sumgait, Analitika.at.ua reports.
