Dereck Chisora banned over Klitschko, Haye brawls

Dereck Chisora has been suspended indefinitely by the World Boxing Council over his behaviour before and after his recent bout against Vitali Klitschko - and ordered to go on an anger management course, Metro news reported.

At the pre-fight weigh-in, Chisora slapped Klitschko and then, once in the ring in Munich, he spat water in the face of his brother Wladimir.

Following his defeat on points, Chisora was then involved in a brawl with fellow British boxer David Haye at a post-fight news conference.

He also threatened to shoot Haye, who has since admitted punching him while holding a glass in his hand.

Chisora was detained by German police the morning after the fight, although he was released without charge. Both fighters have since apologised for their conduct in Munich.

The WBC said it was “one of the worst behaviours ever by a professional” and has demanded that the 28-year-old Zimbabwean undergoes anger management therapy before it would even consider lifting his ban.

It has also removed him from its rankings - he was previously number 14 in the world.

Chisora also faces a British Boxing Board of Control hearing over the incident on March 14.
