VOICE OF AMERICA REDUCES NUMBER OF BROADCASTS IN ARMENIAN
Voice of America radio station reduces the number of broadcasts in Armenian. Radio transmissions in Ukrainian will also be curtailed, Mediamax agency reported. Beginning on February 27 the radio station will totally cease its transmissions in 10 European languages: Bulgarian, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Romanian, Slovakian, Slovenian, Czech, and Estonian. In the words of Voice of America director David Jackson, the steps are due to the constriction of financing by the US Congress. "We should focus on new auditoriums and priorities," he said.
