Russia’s Javakhk diaspora calls for visa facilitation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Javakhk diaspora in Russia disseminated a statement on Georgia’s unilateral cancellation of visa regime for Russian citizens.

“Georgia and Russia operated a visa-free regime until late 2000. Due to certain objective reasons, visa regime was introduced for citizens of the two neighbouring countries. Recently the Georgian authorities unilaterally cancelled the visa regime for Russian citizens; this news pleased and gave hopes to many common people. Our non-governmental organization also welcomes this decision,” says the statement.

“We call on Russian authorities to cancel visa regime for citizens of Georgia. We believe this move will reduce the degree of aggressive rhetoric and actions of Georgian authorities towards Russia, and would enhance mutual humanitarian attitude and healthy economic pragmatism. Most importantly, this would become another good move towards resumption of trustful and warm relations between fraternal peoples of Russia and Georgia,” the statement said.
