CE CONTENDED WITH ARMENIA CONSIDERABLE PROGRESS IN FULFILLING COMMITMENTS
The Council of Europe (CE) welcomes and expresses its satisfaction with the considerable progress Armenia has made in meeting its commitments, assumed when entering the CE. Italian ambassador to CE Pietro Ercole Ago, who heads the CE Committee of Ministers group for monitoring fulfillment of commitments of the organization member countries, stated at a meeting with Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian in Yerevan today. The parties discussed issues referring to reforms of the Constitution, Electoral Code, judicial reforms, problems relating to alternative military service and press freedom. In the course of the meeting the interlocutors also exchanged views over the course of settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh issue, as well as steps aiming at normalizing the Armenian-Turkish relations.
