Armenian President: our country stands close to European values

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited Konrad Adenauer Foundation as a part of a visit to Brussels.

He delivered a speech and answered the questions of those present. European integration policy is vital not only to domestic reform implementation, but also to foreign policy of Armenia, presidential press service reported.

“We attach special importance to EU involvement in Armenia and South Caucasus due to EU’s being a global player and a effective model of peaceful, safe and stable existence of nations,” President Sargsyan said, noting establishment of a secure and developing region possible only thanks to common value system.

In this context, he stated that Armenia currently stands close to Europe and European values.

“Armenia supports problem resolution through political dialogue, mutual understanding and respect for rights of all parties. We stand ready to do the utmost to avert catastrophic developments and formation of new division lines. We have proved seriousness of our intentions,” Armenian President said, adding that Armenia has chosen the democratic path to build statehood regardless of regional problems.

“We strive to build a country where human rights are respected, where judicial and legal system acts independently, where equal competition in political and economic fields exits,” President Sargsyan said.
