Oscar 2013 awards set for February 24

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has set the dates for the 2013 Oscar nominations announcement and subsequent award ceremony.

The awards will take place on Sunday, February 24, which is in line with recent years as being the fourth Sunday in February. However, the nomination announcement will take place on Tuesday, January 15, which is a week earlier than than past years (they usually occur on the 4th Tuesday in January and will now occur on the 3rd).

This suggestively will push the as-yet-unannounced voting deadlines to earlier dates as well, and is perhaps part of a longer term plan to push up the actual ceremony. It also means there will be an extra week between the nominations and the ceremony, Indiewire reported.
